St. Mark Baptist Church Men’s Mission is hosting a Male Wellness Breakfast to encourage men to take charge of their health.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at 2340 N. Holland-Sylvania Road and is open to everyone in the community.
State Representative Elgin Rogers Jr. (D., Toledo), the Reverend Curley L. Johnson, and a team of health professionals will lead discussions on wellness, mental health, and Ohio House Bill 207. This bill designates June as Male Wellness Month and promotes important health checks such as prostate exams, colonoscopies, and mental health screenings for men.
“We want to help men from rural, urban, and suburban areas feel comfortable talking about their health,” Rep. Rogers said in a statement. “A simple conversation with your healthcare provider could save your life.”
He added, “House Bill 207 encourages family members to act as health advocates for the men in their lives. Good health can’t be bought, but it can be protected through preventive care.”
