Brady Larson, 20, was supposed to graduate from Mitchell Institute of Technology in Mitchell, South Dakota, on May 9. Instead, he was over 300 miles away at Mayo Clinic, preparing for a life-saving bone marrow transplant.
But his care team made sure he didn’t miss his big day.
Doctors, nurses, and staff organized a special graduation ceremony in the hospital hallway. Brady walked to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance,” wearing a white lab coat and holding a graduation cap decoration. The crowd cheered as he celebrated his achievement.
The celebration continued with lime green cupcakes—his school’s color.
A Sister’s Gift of Life
Brady has severe aplastic anemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. His 15-year-old sister, Brooklyn, stepped up as his donor.
Despite the challenges, Brady remains focused on the future. He earned a degree in agricultural business and plans to continue his family’s farming legacy in Letcher, South Dakota.
