Lidl Recalls ‘Healthy’ Snack Bars Over Choking Hazard Due to Plastic Contamination

by Kaia

Lidl has issued an urgent recall of its Alesto Raw Fruit & Nut Bars after concerns were raised that the products may contain pieces of plastic, posing a choking hazard. The supermarket chain is advising customers not to consume the affected snack bars, which come in four flavors: Cocoa and Orange, Blueberry Muffin, Salted Caramel, and Berry.

The recall affects packs of five 35-gram bars, with best-before dates of November and December 2025. Notices will be displayed at retail locations to alert customers to the potential danger.

The recall was prompted by a warning from food safety authorities that the presence of plastic in the bars makes them unsafe to eat. Although the exact size of the plastic pieces is not yet clear, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) confirmed that any contamination would make the products a choking risk.

Customers who purchased the affected bars are being advised to return them to Lidl for a full refund. In a statement, the retailer apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their cooperation.

The FSA’s recall notice serves as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety, as the agency takes action when food safety issues arise that make a product unsuitable for sale.
