The 2025 Rare Beauty Mental Health Summit marked the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, as 175 leaders, experts, creators, advocates, and community members gathered to discuss the power of self-acceptance and the importance of building resilience. Held in partnership with Rare Beauty, the fourth annual event featured a workshop led by Dr. Katie Hurley, Senior Clinical Advisor at The Jed Foundation (JED), offering actionable strategies for strengthening emotional resilience.
Dr. Hurley’s interactive session highlighted the crucial roles of community, creativity, and personal growth in cultivating resilience. She guided participants through exercises designed to foster emotional strength, connection, and personal reflection, empowering them to support both themselves and others in the face of life’s challenges.
“What brings us together is our shared experiences of overcoming adversity and our ability to build resilience, which helps us navigate tough situations and foster community,” Dr. Hurley explained.
Adding to the event’s excitement, Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez made a surprise appearance. The multi-talented entrepreneur and philanthropist shared her enthusiasm for the summit on Instagram, calling it one of her favorite experiences of the year. “We heard from some of the brightest minds in mental health, from experts to community members,” Gomez wrote. “Bringing these people together under one roof is truly one of my favorite experiences every year.”
JED, a key partner of the Rare Impact Fund, continues to support mental health initiatives through the $100 million commitment to expanding access to resources for young people around the world. The Rare Impact Fund’s work, in collaboration with organizations like JED, remains vital in fostering emotional well-being globally, providing much-needed support for mental health awareness and education.
The summit reinforced the message that resilience, community, and self-acceptance are essential tools for mental and emotional health, and its impact will continue to resonate with those who participated.
