Dr Farid Fouladinejad has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Specialist Group (MSG) this week, bringing with him over two decades of experience in healthcare improvement.
Dr Fouladinejad has spent more than 20 years working across the National Health Service (NHS) in London. His work has spanned acute, community, and primary care services, as well as public health. He has led major healthcare programmes, focusing on service transformation, planning, and the use of technology in healthcare.
Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Partner at a primary care group. There, he oversaw GP practices, services for nursing homes, and support for other GP providers in the region.
Before joining the NHS, Dr Fouladinejad worked as a technical consultant for a US-based healthcare consultancy. He has experience working in health systems across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
He holds a PhD in Medical Electronics and Physics from St Bartholomew’s Medical College and an MBA from Imperial College London.
Speaking about his new role, Dr Fouladinejad said: “I am motivated by working closely with clinical teams to drive meaningful change. As an engineer, I enjoy improving systems and processes to make the environment better for both patients and clinicians.
“My approach is centred around people and processes. I learn by observing how people work and understanding their needs, which helps me see the strengths and challenges of an organisation from every angle.”
Dr Fouladinejad said he was inspired to apply after speaking with MSG Chair Dr Steve Evans. “Steve’s passion for the residents of Guernsey really stood out. That conversation was a turning point for me,” he said. “The recruitment process was detailed and thoughtful, showing how much the team cares about the future of MSG.”
He praised the organisation’s vision: “The job description showed that MSG is aiming high. Delivering world-class healthcare on a small island is ambitious and exciting. The public-private model here is something many other health systems aspire to.”
Dr Fouladinejad is looking forward to joining the island community. “I’ve always been drawn to the sea, and Guernsey offers a unique lifestyle. I’d love to learn to sail and enjoy the daily commute by the shore. I only wish I had made the move sooner.”
He is married and has a son who recently graduated. His wife plans to join him in Guernsey later this year once their son settles into his new job.
Dr Michelle Le Cheminant, Deputy Chair of MSG, welcomed the appointment: “We’re thrilled to have Farid join MSG and the Guernsey community. He brings strong experience in both primary and secondary care, and his calm, collaborative leadership style is a perfect fit. I look forward to working with him.”
