Three AI Robots Reshaping Medical Workflows

Ubitus and MacKay Memorial Hospital have jointly developed three AI-driven medical robots designed for different healthcare tasks. These robots combine NVIDIA hardware with Ubitus’s proprietary AI models:

  • AMR Robot: This robot acts as a virtual assistant. It helps patients find their way, offers companionship, and supports check-in procedures. It makes the hospital experience smoother and more personal.

  • Humanoid Robot: Built using NVIDIA Isaac GR00T N1, this robot has two arms and can transport specimens and materials without human help. It helps hospitals improve logistics in unmanned environments.

  • Quadruped Robot: Powered by Jetson AGX Orin and technologies like ReMemBr and X-mobility, this four-legged robot explores hard-to-reach and risky areas. It performs tasks like gas detection, temperature sensing, and water leak monitoring while sending real-time data to healthcare teams.

All three robots use NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs and the Llama 4 language model, allowing them to communicate naturally in multiple languages. They also use NVIDIA Riva and ACE digital human technologies to offer lifelike avatars that provide emotional support, health information, and a more caring interaction with patients.

Digital Simulation Enables Faster Rollout

To speed up deployment, the team used NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac Sim to simulate hospital environments and train the robots virtually. This reduced testing risks, cut costs, and helped launch the robots more quickly and efficiently.

“We’re proud to partner with MacKay Memorial Hospital in introducing multi-modal medical robots built on NVIDIA’s AI technology,” said Wesley Kuo, CEO of Ubitus. “MacKay is now the first smart hospital in Taiwan to adopt the NVIDIA B200 platform. This project shows how AI can create real change in healthcare.”

Expanding AI Across the Hospital System

Ubitus plans to expand its work with MacKay Memorial Hospital and NVIDIA by introducing AI and robotics into more areas of care, including emergency, inpatient, rehabilitation, and long-term services. Their goal is to create flexible, scalable solutions that blend AI into everyday hospital routines.

“We’re excited to bring AI and robotics into our hospital,” said the President of MacKay Memorial Hospital. “This partnership improves patient services while making our internal operations safer and more efficient.”

Hospital staff have welcomed the robots for their ability to ease navigation, improve logistics, and strengthen safety checks. They say the tools reduce workloads and increase clinical productivity.
